 RIDE INFORMATION

You'll find all the info you need on where to start, path best travelled, distances, level of difficulty and of course some great notes from the WARRIORS themselves... Enjoy and let us now if you have any great rides we can add to the list....

 KING LAKE

http://sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/187471?key=abfef49e8c839d8acffc2c845604e8e2ae317d6b&ms=0

Take off from Clifton Hill, out along the "other blvd" then Heidelberg, Rosanna and onto Greensborough Road. No much to look at, but enough to warm up on those cold mornings. From Watsonia in the distance you can see the hills beckoning...Diamond Creek, Wattle Glen, Hurstbridge to St Andrews are where the cars thin out and the country air hits you. Don't be fooled by the first incline, the the real climb is just around corner - 5.1% for about 7 kms followed by a regroup at the Kinglake Bakery.

From here it's across to Whittlesea although the arduous climb just outside of Kinglake is not welcome. Rolling hills to Kinglake West followed by a great descent where the speeds are high and the gears are never lower enough...For those still wanting more pain it's a left turn at Humevale Road to do the Humevale Rd climb (3.6% for 7kms). Regroup in Whittlesea for the run home along Plenty Road, the end of ride coffee shop is not far away...

 TWO BAYS

Start at 47 Westbury st, turn left onto Alma rd, right on  Hotham st. follow all the way to Nepean Hwy where you turn left.

If feeling social (on wednesday be at the corner of North rd and Nepean and usually the 6am bunch will have a few die hards that go the 2Bays loop.Entertainment guaranteed if some of these boys tag along, Like Rock n Roll Lee will keep you entertained with his loud social way, and typical sprinter pedalling style.

Continue on Nepean past Mordialloc. Usually I stay on the outer route as supposed to the service rd on the flip side of the train line. The outer route seems to have lesser trash on road and flows better. Here is where smooth fast rolling turns make this ride a pleasure. until then Scottish Andy will roll slowly next to me and make a comment that he is getting bored cruising at 40k and he turns it up a notch or two, this brings silence to the ride apart from the smart ass random remark of slowing down - but is fast day (we do not want to slow down - just put up with the pain)

All the way to franga boys, once you go over Davey st kick it in to slight left onto Plowman pl until High st here turn Left proceed to (Jarred's) roundabout turn right up Kars St, a couple of nice climbs here to get the heart going. Once the plato is reached veer right onto Baden Powell Dr enjoy this rollercoaster until you find yourself at Nepean Hwy here veer left and a nice little incline (again) follow all the way to Canadian Bay road.

Take a deep breath, convince your steed that he/she can do it, tell your lungs to go in over drive and tackle the nice climb until you can see the flip side (the most painful part of the ride is over, sort of) once on top hang a right onto Banool Cres turn left at Eumeralla gv sharp right turn onto orrong gv which becomes station st (careful on these brick parts as they are mega slipery when damp or wet)  left onto two bays a slight descent and climbing towards the bakery, ok a quick break here get some water and perhaps fuel like jam doughnuts 3 for $4 (yum) straight through humphries turn rd right onto overport rd  –  full steam ahead down hill pedal – rd becomes Yuille st turn left on Hastings rd which becomes Davey sy.

Right hand turn onto Nepean Hwy all way back to Mordialloc left at roundabout and right on beach rd back to st kilda, I can smell the coffee already. 120k ride give or take
